Our guides draw on a mix of official and practical sources, cross-checked wherever possible:
- Official regional and national tourism boards
- National park and protected-area authorities
- Alpine and hiking club route information
- Mountain hut and refuge operators
- Public transport and access providers
- Official weather data (Open-Meteo) for current conditions and forecasts
- Topographic maps
- First-hand experience, where the author has actually done the trip
Safety-relevant information
For anything safety-relevant — trail difficulty, avalanche terrain, technical sections, seasonal closures — we favour caution and multiple sources, and we clearly separate general guides from technical or winter/avalanche terrain. See our Weather Data & Disclaimer for how we treat forecast information specifically.
What we don't do
We don't invent distances, elevation gain, times, prices, opening hours or trail conditions, and we don't claim a route was personally walked or ridden unless it was.
